Director and editor
Maya Steinberg is a Tel Aviv-born, Berlin-based film director and editor.
She began her career as a print producer for culinary and science magazines such as National Geographic Israel.
During her film studies at Tel Aviv University, she worked as a video editor for the Israeli channels Reshet, Keshet and Kan.
Her film NEVER COMING BACK TO AMERICA premired and is still airing on Israeli channel 8.
At the end of 2019, Maya Steinberg moved to Berlin to complete a Master's degree in Visual Media Anthropology at the Freie Universität Berlin. Her thesis film ONE OF US NOW premiered at Dok Leipzig 2022 and went on a festival tour around the world. During this time, she worksed as an editor for the feature film MISS HOLOCAUST SURVIVOR and co- edited A BODY LIKE MINE, which premiered on 3sat.
Maya currently teaches at HMKW Berlin in the 'Visual Media Anthropology' program and work as a filmmaker, visual artist, editor and motion designer for various international organiyations and is completing her second master's degree in directing at the Film University Babelsberg Konrad Wolf (HFF). Her currently in- development feature documentary WHAT IS LEFT recived development funding from ZDF Das kleine Fernsehspiel.
